Workers at Giant Eagle store in Ohio are being commended for their timely efforts in saving a 5-year-old girl from dying. Alex Lucas was with her mom when she collapsed in the store’s restroom. Alex was battling a life-threatening disease known as CPVT.

CPVT is a condition that causes the organ to stop all of a sudden. Lori, Alex’s mum, had yelled out for help immediately after she realized that her daughter wasn’t breathing. There were about 20 people in the restroom and some of them tried giving her compressions.

When Chris Spencer, the grocery manager, heard this, he grabbed the automated external defibrillator and dashed back to the restroom to save Alex.

All managers and pharmacists at the Giant Eagle store, a grocery store in Ohio, have been trained in CPR and how to utilize the automated external defibrillator. Lori said that it was scary, but God put the right people in the right place.

Alex now wears a defibrillator on her chest. She is grateful to the people who saved her at the store. Alex’s cardiologist, Dr. John Clark, is now taking care of her. Clark called the workers at Giant Eagle store “Miracle workers.” Clark maintained that he hopes more companies and businesses get AEDs like the one at the Giant Eagle store in Ohio and workers should be trained on how to use them.
