This visionary decided to do something very impressive for his village by digging a canal for decades. As a result of his perseverance, he was able to provide water for his community. Loungi Bhuiya had been so bothered about how farmers left his village, Kolithwa, in search of greener pastures.

Bhuiyan decided to single-handedly bring water to his dry village. He was motivated by the previous achievements of a “Mountain Man” Dashrath Manjh who carved a road via the mountain near a village Gehular for 22 years.

Bhuiya decided to dig a canal close to the water source in the Bangetha Hills. He dug a canal from a water source in Bagetha Sahwasi forest to the village. Despite the fact he was teased by family and friends, Bhuiya worked every day to ensure that his dream of building a canal came to reality.

The villagers took their cattle generally to that source for watering, which also provided sustenance to the animals living in the forest area.

Loungi knew that the water source was enough to irrigate the agricultural land of the villagers. However, it was a great challenge to bring water into the village.

The canal which is four-foot-wide by three-foot-deep took this visionary about 30 years to accomplish. However, everyone now benefits from what he had done. Bhuiaya is now a local hero and he was recently compensated for his efforts with a new Mahindra tractor to expand the canal.
