Two Best Friends Make the Holidays a Special One for Single-Parent Households in Ohio Lacking Money for Gifts

Two best friends based in Cincinnati, Ohio have decided to make the Christmas better for children and families affected due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This feeling to put smiles on these faces came up due to the experience of gratitude felt while both of them were growing up.

These friends, Jordynn Jenkins and Skylar Beavers began an organization – ‘Make a Kid Merry,’ which provides kids with holiday gifts — this is exactly the same support their mums got some years back.

While these friends were growing up, they were brought up by single mothers, which increased their passion to ensure they “pay it forward” this year by assisting other children raised by single-parents during the holidays.

So many families were affected as a result of COVID-19, and this is one good reason why these best friends took it upon themselves to provide 50 kids with gifts. These university students requested donations from the community, and they brought in some friends as elves to wrap the gifts beautifully and get them delivered.

In an interview with WCPO news, Jenkins said:

We both come from single-mother households, so we both had to be sponsored for Christmases before. We just wanted to be able to create a way to give back to our community.

Jenkins
