This romantic husband and wife who have been married for 79 years officially became the oldest married couple in the world.  Julio Cesar Mora Tapia is 110 year-old while Waldramina Maclovia Quinteros is 104-year-old. The Ecuadorian couple had got married almost eight decades ago.

Julio Cesar met Waldramina went to visit her sister amidst school vacation. At that time, Julio Cesar stayed with her sister. The two met and became best of friends.

Julio Cesar said that he immediately fell in love with his wife’s beauty, big heart, and her conversation. Waldramina said he found Julio Cesar a poet with a tender spirit.

The romantic husband and wife said “I do” on February 7, 1941, seven years after they met. They tied the knot at the La Iglesia de El Belen, the oldest church in Quito.

The couple is blessed with five children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. They advised that the secret formula to a long-lasting marriage is love+ maturity+ mutual respect.

“It is true that at this time it is difficult because we are overwhelmed by the pandemic that affects the world and we still do not have a solution. However, the first step for us to follow the rules with respect and love the life.”
