A green-fingered gardener has just discovered something, and was stunned to see his self-seeded sunflower grow an amazing 27 heads.
This Gardener, Barry Boyton got to his garden one day during this spring, and discovered that this plant was blooming with not just one or two heads, but with multiple heads.
Though sunflowers can have several heads on just one stem, experts have revealed that the maximum is usually 20.
However, despite attaining this high number of heads from a sunflower, Barry, who hails from Yeovil in Somerset, England, still has a long way to go to threaten the world record that generated 837 heads. This record sunflower was grown by Melvin Hemker (USA) on his farm in St. Charles, Michigan, USA and the heads were counted on 18th of September 2001.
