A therapy dog has just done something very wonderful by saving a woman who wanted to take her life on a bridge. Digby is a therapy dog trained to help people deal with trauma. Digby was brought to the scene where a woman was trying to end her life.
Digby is a three-year-old labradoodle. The police negotiators were persuading the woman but everything seemed not to be happening well. Then one of the crews suggested that the therapy dog be brought in.
Immediately Digby arrived, the young woman turned her head to look. She was happy to see the dog. The crew asked her if she would like to spend some time with Digby if she left the railings and she gave in.

Dogs have been helping humans cope with trauma and this practice is becoming popular. Clarence, a St Bernard, was considered the first police therapy dog in the US. Clarence was always present at some of the worst tragedies that happened in the country.
Therapy dogs have also been helpful in public health; they have been helping to fight against coronavirus.
