Bernie Sanders, the Vermont Senator has defended the presumptive presidential ticket of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden from criticism, maintaining that most liberals that President Donald Trump must be ousted.
On Sunday morning, Sanders reminded ABC News viewers that if the country wanted any progressive policies to be executed through the government, Biden is the right candidate to be elected on the 3rd of November.
The former Democratic presidential primary candidate touted Harris, saying that he was “incredibly smart and incredibly tough.” He also added that Harris is a great asset that can take down Trump in November. Senator Sanders disagreed with his campaign’s former members who are not zealous about the Biden-Harris ticket.
On Sunday morning, he said that
I would say the overwhelming majority of progressives understand that it is absolutely imperative that Donald Trump is defeated.Sanders
That we have a president who is trying to undermine American democracy, a president who has turned his back on the working families of this country, a president who has done a horrible job in terms of the pandemic, who does not believe in science, and who is not dealing with the existential threat of climate change.Sanders
Senator Sanders responded to Briahna Joy Gray, his former 2020 campaign national press secretary who joined others in saying that Joe Biden hasn’t done much to earn their views.
On August 11, Briahna Joy Gray went to social media and tweeted,
We are in the midst of the largest protest movement in American history, the subject of which is excessive policing, and the Democratic Party chose a ‘top cop’ and the author of the Joe Biden crime bill to save us from Trump. The contempt for the base is, wow.Gray
Senator Bernie Sanders responded to Gray’s tweet saying that,
Obviously there will be some disagreements. A lot of my supporters are not enthusiastic about Joe Biden — you know why? I ran against Joe Biden.
But I think there’s overwhelming understanding that Donald Trump must be defeated, Biden must be elected, and the day after he is elected we are going to do everything we can to create a government that works for all of us and not just the one percent and wealthy campaign contributors.Sanders
Harris was touted as an aggressive asset to Biden when Senator Sanders reminisced about the time he spent with Harris in the Senate.
