A ‘Memory cop’ has been able to detect 2,100 suspects by using incredible face recognition. The suspects included those wearing face masks. Andy Pope has a photographic memory and he has been able to use this for his career.

With this incredible skill, he can recall faces he has seen after some years.  Over the years in his career, Andy has fished out suspects for crimes like sexual assaults, attempted murder, and robbery.

This ‘memory cop’ who credits his instinct for being right had spotted 1,000 criminals by 2018. This cop has spotted more than a hundred suspects in 2020. When asked how he did it, Andy said he has been depending on his instinct to catch criminals even when they are wearing face masks.

Due to his exceptional skill, Andy became a finalist in the Against All Odds category of the Amplifon Awards for Brave Britons 2020. Winners in some of the categories were Marcus Rashford and Sir Tom Moore.

Andy became one of the first 20 people to create part of the Super Recognizers Association in recognition of his incredible skill.

Although it’s been a year like no other, I’ve still carried on as usual with the same preparation coming onto a shift. The most important thing is being able to assist in catching criminals and keeping the public safe, especially given the year it has been.
