Melvin, the dog that had spent 667 days at a California Shelter will be celebrating his fourth birthday in his new home. The rescue dog has been staying with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) for almost two years.
spcaLA was happy that the rescue dog would finally be celebrating his birthday in a new home after they thought he would celebrate it in spcaLA again.
According to spcaLA, the family that adopted this rescue dog has experience in large breed and is also kind-hearted. Melvin will also have two Pit Bull to play with at his new home.
Long Beach Animal Care Services picked up Melvin as a lost dog. This dog had issues with finding the perfect family when he was at the shelter.
Melvin’s biggest challenges in finding a home may have been the two things he couldn’t change: the color of his coat and his breed.spcaLA
spcaLA revealed that it tried to broadcast Melvin to the public through social media and media. All this didn’t work, it was a spcaLA adoption counselor who found a perfect family for Melvin.
Melvin went through several hours of training and enjoyed daily enrichment to stay physically and mentally stable in the shelter, according to Sara Taylor, director of animal behavior and training at spcaLA.
