Photos of a sick labradoodle named Monty carried in a wheelbarrow up the mountain by its master and owner for the final walk have brought in touching reactions.
57-year-old Carlos Fresco took 10-year-old Monty, a labradoodle, to climb his favorite mountain located in Brecon, Wales. This is where both of them hiked countless times before Monty passed away after some months of fighting leukemia, causing the dog not to be able to walk.
In an interview with SWNS, Fresco revealed that:
I knew Monty was dying as his cancer had returned. He was diagnosed 18 months ago and responded very well to chemotherapy. Although he was weak he enjoyed all the fuss and attention received by so many well-wishers. People on the hills were so kind and equally so sad at his deteriorating condition.Fresco
Fresco also remembered how strangers asked to assist in pushing Monty up his favorite mountain, as some onlookers shed tears seeing that the labradoodle couldn’t walk without assistance.
Monty eventually died at the foot of his master’s bed after spending Father’s Day with him. Fresco said to SWNS
I would like to thank all the wonderful people that we met in Brecon and on the hills for their true kindness and genuine sympathy.Fresco
