A Kroger grocery store recently hired a homeless woman after sleeping on its parking lot. Lashenda Williams said that she had been struggling with drug addiction and she has been sleeping in her car at a Kroger store in Nashville after driving around during the day.

I would lean my seat back so no one would see me because, you know, I knew I wasn’t supposed to be there.

Vandal helped Williams with the filling of the application. Immediately Vandal saw the message showing that she had successfully applied, he hired her on the spot.

Williams has been working at the store since December and she now has an apartment with the help of her fellow employees. Vandal affirmed that Williams is a fantastic worker and he wish he had 120 of her.

We are so lucky to have Lashenda as part of our Kroger family. Her uplifting spirit is contagious. She has made such a positive impact on her fellow team members and so many customers as well.

I was sleeping in a parking lot and looking for something to eat. Now, all my babies here love me. No one abuses me, and no one calls me dumb and stupid. For the first time in my life, I finally got peace.
