Instagram will stop adults from sending messages to teenagers who don’t follow them. This new development will help protect young users. This change is noteworthy. With this development, when an adult sends a message to a teenager who isn’t following them, the adults will be notified that direct messaging isn’t allowed.
This new feature will be making use of Artificial intelligence Instagram designed to identify the true age of a user. The app maintains that users must be 13 years and above, however, young people can give an incorrect date of birth.
Instagram hopes that this new feature will protect teens. Asides from preventing adults from messaging teens who don’t follow the adults, the facebook-owned app maintains that it will use safety notices to urge teens to be careful with adults they already follow.

The app also maintained that it will incorporate measures that will make it harder for adults who have suspicious behavior to communicate with teens. This will include restricting adults from viewing the accounts of teens, preventing them from exploring their page.
For example, if an adult is sending a large amount of friend or message requests to people under 18, we’ll use this tool to alert the recipients within their DMs and give them an option to end the conversation, or block, report, or restrict the adult.Instagram
The app also promises to encourage teen users to privatize their accounts by inputting information on what the different settings mean. If a teen user doesn’t want to make his/her account private, Instagram will ensure it sends a notification, telling him/her about the benefits of making their account private.
