The cabinet minister announced that over 200,000 people are currently getting COVID-19 vaccine on a daily basis and the government making great efforts to reach its two million vaccinations weekly target.
While talking on Sophy Ridge On Sunday, the health secretary revealed that the NHS was being pressurized, which is very wrong and stressed the importance of people to obey lockdown rules and remain indoors
The health secretary revealed to Andrew Marr of BBC that:
Absolutely we’re going to offer the COVID-19 vaccine to everybody by autumn. We’ve got over 350 million doses on order, they’re not all here yet, and we’re rolling them out as fast as they get deliveredMr. Hancock
Concerning the enforcement of lockdown rules, Mr Hancock said that he is in full support of the police applying the law in strict fashion regarding COVID-19 restrictions.
He revealed to Ridge that the government is focused at meeting its goal of vaccinating over 13 million of people aged over 70 and the most vulnerable by mid-February; to meet this target, about two million jabs must be carried out weekly.
Yes we’re on course. The rate limiting factor at the moment is supply but that’s increasing. I’m very glad to say that at the moment we’re running at over 200,000 people being vaccinated every day. We’ve now vaccinated around one third of the over-80s in this country so we’re making significant progress but there’s still further expansion to go. This week we’re opening mass vaccination centres. Big sites for instance at Epsom racecourse, there’s seven going live this week with more to come next week where we will get through very large numbers of people.Mr. Hancock
