According to concussion experts, the new traumatic brain injury test has proved to be effective as it has shown encouraging results. This authorized handheld device will enable doctors to determine traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) within 15 minutes. This will help save lives by reducing the time it will take to diagnose this issue.
An American-based medical device company, Abbott developed this device. Independent experts have maintained that this brain test may be a new era in medical care for patients suffering from traumatic brain injuries.

TBI is caused by a jolt or a blow to the head which leads to a disruption in the normal functioning of the brain. The mildest form of TBI is a concussion; however, patients may experience a constellation of physical, emotional, cognitive, and sleep symptoms. Blurry vision, fatigue, headaches, lack of focus, insomnia, and dizziness are some of the most common signs.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that in the United States, TBI is a major cause of death and disability. In 2014, there were about 2.87 million emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and deaths related to TBI. The elderly and athletes are the most at-risk of TBIs.
Unfortunately, many patients experiencing mild TBI battle with timely diagnosis, even when they experience ongoing symptoms. This ultimately results in delayed treatment.
Doctors often make use of screening questionnaires and CT scans to capture the brain in order to detect TBI. According to experts, these procedures aren’t perfect and there is no precise way to evaluate TBI reliably.
