A 106-year-old man from Delhi, India has been discharged from the hospital after testing negative for COVID-19. He had contracted the disease and was undergoing treatment alongside his 70-yeat old son at a renowned COVID-19 facility in Delhi. The centenarian recovered rapidly and was discharged after he tested negative. The amazing thing is that he was four years old when the Spanish Flu hit the world. The man and his family members had been admitted into the Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialist Hospital. The doctors attested that the man (name withheld) had recovered faster than his family members. They also said the rest of the family had recovered completely.
The centenarian was brought to the facility in East Delhi, in the middle of April and was discharged in May. Speaking about the man and his family members, the doctor said, “The 106-year-old man and his son, in his 70s, had recovered at our hospital, but the rest two recuperated at another COVID facility.” A senior doctor at the hospital spoke briefly about his speedy recovery saying, “Perhaps, he is the first reported case of COVID-19 in Delhi who also went through the dreaded Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918 which like COVID-19 had also ravaged the world. And, he not only recovered from COVID-19, he recovered faster than his son, who is also very old.”
According to the United States of America CDC, ” The 1918 influenza pandemic was the most severe in recent history. It was caused by an H1N1 virus with genes of avian origin. Although there is no universal consensus regarding where the virus originated, it spread worldwide during 1918-1919.” The man is hailed as a hero who survived the deadliest pandemic in the world and the COVID-19.
