70-year-old veteran, Marshall Helm is being hailed for being a hero after he rescued his neighbors from a fire accident. Marshall was walking his granddaughter to the bus stop in the morning when his attention was drawn to the flames and smokes coming out from the next house.
Helm immediately ran over to the burning home and opened the garage door. He realized the flames getting to one of the building walls. This 70-year-old veteran didn’t hesitate to go past the flames and gain access into the house, despite the fact that he has been battling cancer.
He gained access to the house to be sure that his neighbors were safe. Kathy and Gary Benjamin had been asleep when they were awoken by Helm’s voice. Helm was shouting at the top of his voice, alerting his neighbors of the fire.
At first, they were confused by the commotion, but they later managed to get into the hallway and leave with Helm via the back door. They had to leave through the back door since flames were already engulfing the garage door where Helm had passed through a minute before.
All thanks to Helm’s instant actions, he was able to save the Benjamins before it was too late. Although Helm’s neighbors suffered a minor smoke inhalation and lost their home in the fire, they are very grateful to Helm for rescuing their lives. Mr. Benjamin said that Helm was a lifesaver and he is their hero.
