19 families have come together and put their resources to purchase a community safe and thriving for black people. Ashley Scott, a real estate agent purchased the land together with a group of 19 black families.
The purchased land is located at East of Macon in rural Wilkinson County, Georgia. At first, Scott and her friend, Renee Walters, didn’t plan to purchase a large plot of land, but they had the vision to create a haven for their Black families.
I’m hoping that it will be a thriving haven for people of color, for Black families in particular. Being able to create a community that is thriving, that is safe, that has agriculture and commercial businesses that are supporting one another and that dollars circulating in our community that is our vision.Scott
